Mastercard has announced plans to pilot a new Identity Attribute Verification service in several European markets. This initiative will allow card issuers to verify detailed personal information about cardholders—such as age, date of birth, and address—without the need for users to upload documents like photo IDs or passports. The service uses EMVCo standards to provide additional security and accuracy in digital transactions.
The new verification process will streamline procedures for consumers, eliminating the hassle of uploading identification documents. Dennis Gamiello, Mastercard’s EVP of identity, emphasized that the technology behind payment cards will enable seamless verification while protecting user privacy.
Mastercard intends to expand this service to more European markets within the next year, aiming to meet the rising demand for secure, digital verification in online transactions.
