Klarna Investor Increases Valuation, Implies $14.6 Billion Price Tag

Investor Chrysalis Investments has raised Klarna’s valuation to $14.6 billion, marking a significant increase ahead of Klarna’s expected IPO in 2025, reflecting renewed optimism in the BNPL sector

One of Klarna’s key investors, Chrysalis Investments, has raised the valuation it assigns to the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) giant, suggesting an implied valuation of $14.6 billion as the company heads toward a planned IPO in the first half of 2025.

Increased Valuation on the Back of BNPL Sector Growth

According to a report from Bloomberg citing company filings, Chrysalis Investments has increased the value of its stake in Klarna from £100.3 million to £120.6 million. This boost brings Klarna’s implied valuation to over $14.6 billion, more than doubling from the $6.7 billion valuation it achieved in its 2022 funding round, during a challenging period for tech companies.

While the current valuation is still significantly lower than Klarna‘s peak valuation of $46 billion in 2021, the upward adjustment reflects renewed optimism in the BNPL market. Chrysalis credits the valuation increase to the rising share prices of similar BNPL firms such as Affirm and PayPal.
