Visa is collaborating with several QR payment providers across Asia Pacific to enable cross-border QR payments. The partnerships include Lakala in Mainland China, Touch ‘n Go Digital in Malaysia, FOMO Pay in Singapore, LINE Pay in Taiwan, and VNPay and Zalopay in Vietnam, connecting their QR merchant networks to Visa‘s payment system.
This program will allow consumers to use their preferred payment apps to scan QR codes and make payments at participating merchants both domestically and internationally. Visa aims to provide a seamless and secure payment experience for consumers familiar with QR payments at home, now expanding that convenience abroad.
T.R. Ramachandran, Visa’s SVP and head of products and solutions for Asia Pacific, says, “These partnerships represent a significant leap forward for the payments ecosystem in Asia Pacific.”
A pilot program will be launched in Singapore, with other regions following soon. The initiative is being supported by Juspay, providing the necessary technical infrastructure for QR payments.
