Duna, a business identity startup founded by former Stripe executives, has raised €10.7 million in a seed funding round led by Index Ventures. The startup offers a platform for compliant, shareable business identity, already adopted by major firms like Plaid, Bol, Moss, Sequra, and Brand New Day Bank.
Co-founders David Schreiber and Duco van Lanschot—alumni of Stripe, Trade Republic Bank, and Fourthline—aim to digitise and streamline identity checks amid growing regulatory demands from AMLD5/6, PSD2/3, DAC7, DORA, and the Supply Chain Transparency Act.
Duna is built to replace the manual, spreadsheet-heavy compliance process with instant, automated verification. Clients using Duna have seen an average 38% boost in onboarding conversion rates within six months of launch.
Schreiber explains:
“In a fast-moving AI landscape, we generate flawless images without a camera and draft legal arguments without a day in law school. Yet when it comes to business identity, we’re still stuck in the era of spreadsheets. We’re building a future where businesses have digital passports — allowing them to identify instantly, securely, and universally.”
Plaid’s VP for EMEA, Zak Lambert, adds:
“Business onboarding used to be a cost center for Plaid. Now, it’s a revenue driver thanks to Duna’s intuitive onboarding flows, compliance automation, and high-end UX.”
Duna’s ultimate vision: make business identification as simple as two clicks.
