Worldpay Revolutionizes Payment Processing with Tap to Pay on iPhone

Worldpay introduces Tap to Pay on iPhone, revolutionizing payment processing by enabling merchants to securely accept contactless payments using their iPhones. This innovative feature simplifies payment acceptance, eliminates the need for additional hardware, and meets the growing demand for digital wallets and mobile payments.

Worldpay, a leading payment facilitator, has unveiled a groundbreaking feature, Tap to Pay on iPhone, empowering merchants to securely accept contactless payments using their iPhones. This innovative service, now available to merchants utilizing the Worldpay® PayFac™ suite of services, eliminates the need for additional hardware and simplifies the payment acceptance process.

Two prominent PayFac partners, Fullsteam and Autobooks, have already integrated this new service into their offerings, enabling their merchants to accept a wide range of contactless payments, including credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, directly through their iPhones.

The move comes in response to the growing consumer preference for digital wallets and contactless payment methods, as highlighted in the 2024 Global Payments Report from Worldpay. By 2027, an estimated 86% of all transaction value at the point of sale will be conducted using digital wallets or credit and debit cards globally. Tap to Pay on iPhone provides businesses, ranging from retailers to healthcare professionals, with a convenient and efficient way to meet this increasing demand.

Michael Lawler, CEO at Fullsteam, emphasized the benefits of leveraging existing technology, stating, “Many businesses are mobile, and if we can utilize existing business tools like iPhone as an untethered POS acceptance device, we are making their lives easier.”

Joel Donoghue, Owner of Integrity1 Home Inspections and a client of Autobooks, echoed this sentiment, describing Tap to Pay on iPhone as a “game changer” that simplifies payment collection without the need for additional equipment.

Integrating Tap to Pay on iPhone is seamless for PayFac partners, who can leverage Worldpay’s triPOS mobile toolkit to integrate the feature into their point-of-sale apps. Once integrated, merchants using the app can accept various forms of contactless payments securely and efficiently.

Matt Downs, EVP of Platforms at Worldpay, highlighted the significance of Tap to Pay on iPhone in expanding payment acceptance opportunities. “With iPhones being the most used device in the U.S. market, we are opening up greater opportunities for businesses to accept payments in an untethered, secure, and seamless way,” he stated.

Moreover, the integration process is streamlined, allowing PayFac partners to deploy Tap to Pay on iPhone for their merchants quickly and effortlessly. Leveraging Apple’s advanced technology, this feature ensures the privacy and security of merchant and customer data, offering peace of mind to businesses and consumers alike.

As businesses embrace the digital transformation of payment processing, Tap to Pay on iPhone emerges as a pioneering solution, facilitating seamless and secure contactless payments for merchants worldwide.
