Alipay has partnered with Chinese AR firm Rokid to embed QR code payments into augmented reality glasses, enabling users to make in-store purchases simply by looking at a product label. The Rokid Glasses, which have seen over 250,000 units ordered, are now integrated with Alipay’s digital payments technology, streamlining the retail checkout experience.
To use the feature, users link their Alipay account to the Rokid app and activate voice verification. They can then scan a merchant’s QR code through the glasses and confirm the transaction using voice, with the entire process completing in just seconds—far faster than the 20–30 seconds typical for phone-based QR payments.
Rokid founder and CEO Zhu Mingming says the innovation not only simplifies in-store payments but also marks a leap forward for the AI glasses industry. Looking ahead, he envisions a future where users can transact with just a glance or gesture and engage in immersive shopping experiences like virtual try-ons and real-time product recommendations. The partnership signals deeper integration of payment technology into wearable AR, offering a glimpse at the future of frictionless retail.
