BBVA on the Hunt for 1,100 New Tech Employees

BBVA is ramping up its digital strategy with plans to hire 1,100 new tech employees in 2025, bringing its total tech workforce to 20,000. The Spanish banking giant has already added 10,100 data and technology professionals over the past three years and is now looking to attract top talent in software development, data engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.

To support this initiative, BBVA has launched a dedicated job portal where candidates can explore vacancies, hear from current employees in STEM roles, and stay updated on the bank’s latest advancements in data and technology. Pedro J. Méndez, head of talent and culture for engineering at BBVA, emphasized the bank’s commitment to innovation, stating, “We are investing in top tech talent to meet future challenges and continue leading the digitization process.”

In recent years, BBVA has taken significant steps to bolster its technology operations, including launching a unified global software development division in 2021 and introducing the ONE project to enhance collaboration among engineers. The bank also established BBVA Technology in Europe and expanded to the Americas in 2024, adding over 3,000 new technology roles last year alone.
