Lloyds Partners with Lumio to Help Couples Manage Shared Finances

Lloyds Banking Group has joined forces with personal finance app Lumio to make it easier for couples and cohabitants to manage shared expenses. The partnership introduces Lumio’s “Couples Pro” platform to selected Lloyds customers, offering a stress-free solution for managing household budgets, splitting bills, and saving towards common goals.

The rollout, taking place between May and August, will offer free access to Lumio Couples Pro—normally £39.99 annually—to a limited number of Lloyds customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The app creates a shared financial space while keeping individual accounts separate, giving users full transparency over shared spending, balances, and savings goals.

Lumio also features an automated IOU tracker, making it easier for couples, siblings, or flatmates to stay aligned on shared payments without awkward financial discussions. More than 40,000 couples already use Lumio to simplify shared finances and reduce friction around money management.

Tamara van den Ban, customer propositions director at Lloyds Banking Group, says: “Lumio offers an easy way to manage money together, making everyday financial tasks stress-free for people who need to do this together—whether that be couples, siblings, or flatmates.”

Lumio is a standout graduate of Lloyds’ 2024 Launch Innovation programme, which supports fintechs through real-world experimentation and potential investment. Charlie Richardson, Lumio’s founder, highlights the value of this integration: “Modern couples have fallen into an account gap. Lumio makes it easier to spend independently while maintaining financial clarity and alignment.”

The initiative reflects Lloyds’ broader strategy of collaborating with fintechs to bring innovative, customer-focused services to market. “We believe collaboration is key,” says van den Ban, “and we’re excited for what this partnership will deliver to better meet our customers’ evolving needs.”
