Revolut Joins European Payments Initiative to Expand Wero Wallet Access

Revolut has officially joined the European Payments Initiative (EPI), expanding access to the Wero Wallet for millions of its customers starting this summer. The digital banking giant will initially roll out the service in France, Belgium, and Germany, offering seamless account-to-account (A2A) payments powered by Sepa Instant Credit Transfer protocols.

Wero enables users to send money in under 10 seconds using phone numbers, email addresses, or QR codes. Since its launch late last year, Wero has amassed 40 million users across its initial rollout markets, aiming to challenge the dominance of global card networks like Visa and Mastercard by strengthening Europe’s payment autonomy.

Revolut customers will now be able to access Wero’s core features—such as free, real-time P2P transfers—directly through their Revolut app. Looking forward, more features will be integrated into the app, including e-commerce payments in late 2025, and in-store payments, subscription tools, and loyalty services by 2026.

David Tirado, VP of Global Business at Revolut, commented, “Facilitating seamless access to free and instant payments is no longer a nice to have, it’s a must. By enabling Wero within the Revolut app, alongside our other local peer-to-peer payment partners, we’re empowering our customers to make instant and secure payments seamlessly within European borders, in the most suitable way for them.”

This partnership underscores Revolut’s continued commitment to enhancing user experience and aligns with broader efforts to build a robust, European-owned payments infrastructure.
