Klarna Explores Crypto Integration Ahead of Anticipated IPO

Buy now, pay later leader Klarna is preparing to integrate cryptocurrency into its platform as it gears up for an anticipated IPO in April. CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski hinted at the move in a post on X, seeking ideas on how best to incorporate crypto into Klarna’s services.

The announcement comes amid a resurgence in the cryptocurrency market, fueled by Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Bitcoin recently surged past 100,000 with Standard Chartered predicting it could reach500,000 within three years.

Siemiatkowski revealed that his post sparked a flood of suggestions from the industry. Proposals ranged from adding Bitcoin to Klarna’s balance sheet to enabling crypto payments for merchants and integrating a built-in crypto wallet into the Klarna app. Many emphasized the importance of a compliance-first approach to ensure regulatory adherence.
