Standard Chartered Predicts Bitcoin Will Reach $500,000 by 2028

Standard Chartered’s head of digital assets, Geoffrey Kendrick, forecasts that Bitcoin could hit $500,000 within the next three years, driven by the Trump administration’s pro-crypto stance and growing institutional investment.

Currently trading at $98,000, Bitcoin briefly surpassed $100,000 after Trump’s election victory. In office, Trump has established a digital assets working group to explore relaxed federal regulations and the creation of a national digital asset stockpile. Additionally, the removal of corporate accounting restrictions on crypto holdings has further fueled market optimism.

The rise of Bitcoin ETFs has also played a crucial role, attracting $39 billion in inflows so far. Kendrick predicts Bitcoin will reach $200,000 by the end of 2025, $300,000 by 2026, $400,000 by 2027, and ultimately $500,000 by 2028, where he expects it to stabilize through 2029.

Kendrick suggests that reduced volatility will encourage more institutional adoption, positioning Bitcoin alongside gold—which currently has a $19.3 trillion market cap—as part of a two-asset investment strategy. He believes this shift will drive long-term price appreciation as portfolios adjust to a more balanced state.
