ANZ is phasing out traditional passwords for its ANZ Plus digital banking platform, opting instead for a passwordless login system built around two-factor authentication (2FA).
Customers will now access ANZ Plus Web Banking through two secure options: either using a passkey—such as a fingerprint, face ID, or device PIN—or by entering their mobile number and approving a login request sent to their ANZ Plus app.
The move is designed to enhance both security and user experience, eliminating the risks associated with password breaches and phishing attacks.
“The introduction of Password-less Web Banking will revolutionise the way customers access their bank account,” said Maile Carnegie, ANZ Group Executive Australia Retail. “Not only will it be easier than ever to log into your account, we’re helping our customers bank with confidence knowing their accounts are secure.”
By scrapping passwords, ANZ is aligning with broader industry trends to bolster cybersecurity and simplify digital access for millions of users.
