German neobank N26 has stepped into the telecommunications sector, following rival Revolut, by launching N26 SIM, a flexible, app-integrated mobile plan powered by Vodafone’s 5G network.
The service introduces eSIM technology, letting users activate their plan directly within the N26 app in just a few taps. Customers can opt for data bundles starting at €13.99/month for 10GB and going up to €34.99/month for 100GB, all of which include unlimited national calls and texts, and free EU and EEA roaming.
N26 SIM also offers month-to-month flexibility, with no binding contracts, and users can either port their existing number or get a new one directly through the app.
“With N26 SIM, we’ll offer flexible and affordable mobile plans that can be activated straight in our app,” said Valentin Stalf, N26 founder and CEO. “Together with Vodafone, our customers can be connected through one of the best mobile networks in Germany.”
N26’s move mirrors Revolut’s recent launch of mobile plans, which include unlimited texts and calls, 20GB of EU and US roaming, and a no-contract model. Revolut’s service is debuting in the UK and Germany, with an introductory rate of £12.50 per month and a growing waitlist ahead of broader expansion.
As digital banks blur the lines between finance and lifestyle services, telecom may become the next big battleground.
