UK digital bank OakNorth has inked a strategic collaboration with OpenAI to integrate generative AI tools across its operations — aiming to supercharge customer experience, internal workflows, and innovation in SME banking.
Already active in AI-led initiatives, OakNorth is scaling its usage of GPT to enhance both customer-facing and back-office processes, from deal structuring and term sheet drafting to real-time query resolution.
This move supports OakNorth’s broader ambition to deploy AI horizontally across departments and vertically into core banking workflows — a strategy designed to boost speed, personalisation, and operational efficiency.
“Through this collaboration with OpenAI, we’ll be able to deliver even greater personalisation and speed for our customers, as well as enhancing our operational efficiency,” said Rishi Khosla, OakNorth’s co-founder and CEO. “By embedding AI across every layer of our business, we’re building a smarter, leaner, and more impactful bank.”
The partnership marks a significant milestone in the evolution of AI in UK fintech, with OakNorth positioning itself as a frontrunner in enterprise GPT integration within regulated financial services.
