Visa has expanded its ‘Tap to Add Card’ service to Ukraine, Georgia, and South Africa, allowing cardholders to add their bank card to a mobile wallet by simply tapping it against their smartphone. This feature eliminates manual entry errors and mitigates fraud risks associated with entering card details online.
The service generates a unique, one-time code validated by Visa’s Chip Authenticate service, ensuring secure card credential provisioning. Visa emphasizes that Tap to Add Card benefits all key stakeholders in the payments ecosystem:
- Cardholders enjoy a faster, more secure, and seamless way to add cards to digital wallets, boosting digital payment adoption.
- Issuers benefit from reduced provisioning fraud, fewer customer service inquiries, and higher transaction approval rates.
- Digital wallets experience enhanced security, higher token provisioning rates, and opportunities to introduce new customer experiences.
“Offering an experience similar to in-store payments, Tap to Add Card makes adding cards to digital wallets easier and safer,” Visa stated. “This innovation aligns with our commitment to enhancing digital payment security and user convenience.”
