Bank of America CashPro App Surpasses €100 Billion in European Payments as Mobile Treasury Grows

Bank of America’s CashPro app has passed a major milestone in Europe, with corporate clients using the mobile treasury platform to approve more than €100 billion in payments during the first seven months of 2026.

The milestone comes as mobile treasury adoption accelerates across the region. According to Bank of America, payment transaction volume through the CashPro app increased 25% from the same period in 2025, while the value of payments approved through the platform rose 21%.

The figures highlight a broader change in corporate treasury operations. Mobile banking is moving beyond account monitoring and basic approvals and becoming part of the daily infrastructure companies use to manage high-value, time-sensitive financial activity.

For Bank of America, the growth is also creating a stronger case for continued investment in mobile authentication, payment workflows, and digital identity.

Mobile Treasury Moves Into the Mainstream

Corporate treasury has traditionally relied on desktop banking platforms, dedicated security devices, and tightly controlled approval processes. That model is changing as treasury teams look for ways to handle payments and liquidity decisions while working across locations.

Bank of America says the CashPro app is increasingly being used for those time-sensitive tasks.

In Europe, 74% of CashPro users now choose the CashPro mobile token as their preferred way to authenticate and access the platform. The mobile token replaces the need for a physical security token and works alongside biometric authentication, QR sign-in, and push authentication.

Matthew Davies, head of Global Payments Solutions EMEA at Bank of America, said mobile access has become an integral part of daily treasury workflows. He pointed to the 74% adoption rate as evidence that mobile authentication is becoming embedded in corporate cash and treasury management.

The shift is important because payment approval is one of the most sensitive tasks in corporate banking. Treasury users need both speed and strong authentication. Bank of America’s data suggests companies are increasingly comfortable using a mobile device for both.

More Than €100 Billion in Payments Approved

The headline figure is the more than €100 billion in payments approved by European clients through CashPro during the first seven months of 2026.

The growth is not limited to transaction value. CashPro payment transaction volume increased 25% compared with the same period in 2025, while payment value climbed 21%.

That combination points to more frequent use of the platform as well as continued processing of substantial corporate payment flows.

CashPro is Bank of America’s digital banking platform for corporate and commercial clients. The bank says more than 35,000 companies globally use CashPro to manage and monitor payments, deposits, loans, and trade transactions.

The mobile app is therefore not operating as a separate consumer-style banking product. It is part of a broader treasury infrastructure that connects companies with payments, liquidity, and other financial services.

Bank of America says CashPro clients approved a record $1.2 trillion in payments through the CashPro app during 2025, averaging roughly $38,000 every second.

The latest European figures show how that broader platform is increasingly being used through mobile channels.

Payment Approval Gets a New Mobile Experience

As usage has expanded, Bank of America has also updated the payment approval experience within CashPro.

The bank says the latest changes provide users with greater visibility into payment details and make the approval process more efficient. The changes were informed by feedback from CashPro clients, including members of the bank’s CashPro Boards.

The CashPro Boards are advisory groups made up of users from different client segments and regions. Their role is to provide feedback that helps shape CashPro development priorities and the user experience.

Kunwarjit Singh Suri, EMEA Controller at F5 Limited and a member of Bank of America’s UK CashPro Board, said moving from a physical token to the CashPro App provided the security required by the company while making transaction review and approval easier from different locations.

That feedback-driven approach is becoming increasingly important as banks compete to make corporate treasury systems easier to use without weakening security controls.

Security and Convenience Converge

Corporate payment systems face a basic trade-off: companies want employees to approve transactions quickly, but high-value payments require strong security and authentication.

Mobile technology is helping narrow that gap.

CashPro combines mobile authentication with biometrics, QR sign-in, and push authentication. The integrated mobile token is designed to give treasury users a secure way to access CashPro and approve transactions without relying on a separate physical token.

Bank of America is now working on another layer of this infrastructure.

The bank said it is developing a new digital identity verification experience for corporate administrators. The capability will build on CashPro’s existing cybersecurity features and patented integrated mobile token.

Heath Bergman, CashPro App Product Executive at Bank of America, said clients are increasingly asking for more treasury capabilities through mobile channels, and their feedback is shaping the bank’s continued investment in secure mobile access.

CashPro Also Uses AI for Treasury Workflows

The mobile experience is only one part of Bank of America’s wider CashPro technology strategy.

The platform already incorporates AI in several areas, according to the bank.

CashPro Chat uses Bank of America’s AI-driven Erica technology to help clients access account information, track transactions, and resolve service issues.

CashPro Capital Markets Insights uses an AI-driven algorithm and market variables to generate a TED score that helps quantify the macro environment faced by debt issuers.

CashPro Forecasting uses machine learning to integrate account data, analyze global cash positions, and produce cash forecasts and related insights.

These capabilities point to a broader shift in corporate banking. Digital treasury platforms are moving from systems that simply execute instructions toward tools that can help treasury teams understand cash positions, anticipate funding needs, and make decisions.

The mobile app is becoming the access point, while AI and data analytics provide increasingly sophisticated functions behind it.

Mobile Access Is Becoming a Treasury Requirement

The European numbers suggest the mobile shift is not simply about convenience.

When 74% of CashPro users in the region select mobile authentication as their preferred option, the smartphone becomes part of the security architecture of corporate banking rather than merely an additional channel.

That matters for multinational businesses whose finance teams operate across time zones and locations.

A payment may need approval outside traditional office hours. A treasury manager may need to verify a transaction while travelling. A corporate administrator may need secure access without being physically connected to a desktop banking environment.

Mobile authentication can address those operational requirements while maintaining security controls.

The increase in payment volume also indicates that these capabilities are being used in real treasury workflows, rather than remaining niche digital features.

Bank of America Is Extending Its Digital Treasury Strategy

CashPro sits within Bank of America’s much larger payments business.

The bank said it facilitates more than $450 trillion in corporate payments annually, based on its 2025 figures, while investing around $1 billion each year in payments technology.

Earlier this year, Bank of America also announced plans for a cross-border real-time payments service that will allow corporate, commercial, and financial institution clients to send and receive funds instantly through Swift or CashPro. The planned solution is designed to connect with real-time payment networks, including Mexico’s SPEI, the UK’s Faster Payments Service, and India’s UPI.

That initiative and the latest CashPro mobile growth point in the same direction.
