Experian Brings Personalised Credit Scores to ChatGPT in UK First

August 20, 2026

Experian has upgraded its ChatGPT app to give UK consumers secure access to their personalised Experian Credit Score directly within ChatGPT, marking what the company describes as a UK first.

The new experience allows eligible users to view their 1250 Experian Credit Score, score history and score-band information without leaving the AI conversation. Users can also see a breakdown of the factors that contribute to their score and compare current account offers.

The move represents a significant step in the convergence of AI, personal finance and credit information, as consumers increasingly turn to AI platforms for financial guidance.

Personal Credit Information Comes to ChatGPT

Until now, consumers asking AI platforms about credit scores generally received broad educational information based on publicly available sources. Experian’s upgraded app changes that by connecting authenticated users with their own credit information.

After securely connecting their Experian account, users can access their personalised score through the Experian experience within ChatGPT.

The company says users can:

  • View their 1250 Experian Credit Score
  • Understand the information contributing to their score
  • Track their score history and score band
  • Compare current account offers
  • Return to Experian for their full personalised credit report and additional guidance

Experian says the service is designed so that users’ credit-score information remains within its secure, logged-in experience and is not exposed to or used by the AI model when generating responses.

AI Is Becoming a Financial Guidance Channel

Experian’s launch comes as consumers increasingly use AI to help with personal financial questions.

Research commissioned and analysed by Experian found that 62% of regular ChatGPT users surveyed said they use AI tools to support their financial goals.

The research also found that 91% of surveyed regular ChatGPT users would find an Experian ChatGPT app helpful, while 86% said they would trust it. Data privacy was identified as the biggest factor influencing that trust.

The findings point to a broader change in consumer behaviour: people are increasingly looking for financial information through digital channels they already use.

Younger Consumers Are a Key Audience

Experian is also targeting younger consumers who are becoming increasingly comfortable using AI for financial questions.

According to the company’s research, 38% of users aged 18–34 said learning more about personal finance was one of their top financial goals. However, this group remains among the least likely to have checked their credit score.

By bringing personalised credit information into ChatGPT, Experian aims to make credit education more accessible while encouraging consumers to take further action through its own platform.

Edu Castro, Managing Director of Experian Consumer Services UK&I, said the company’s goal is to make accurate credit information available through the channels consumers increasingly use for financial questions.

Security and Privacy Are Central to the Experience

Personal credit information is highly sensitive, making security a central part of Experian’s implementation.

The company says credit scores are displayed within Experian’s secure, authenticated environment rather than being exposed to the AI model.

Users who want more detailed information are directed back to the Experian app or website, where they can access their full credit report and receive guidance on understanding or improving their score.

This separation between personalised financial data and the AI model is an important part of the product’s positioning as AI becomes more integrated into financial services.

Experian Connects Credit Insights With Banking Choices

The upgraded ChatGPT experience goes beyond displaying a credit score.

Users can also compare current account offers, creating a path from financial education to product discovery within the same experience.

That reflects a wider shift in digital financial services, where companies are attempting to combine personalised insights, financial education and product comparison into a single customer journey.

For Experian, ChatGPT provides another channel through which consumers can interact with its financial-data and credit capabilities.

Experian’s Role in UK Lending

The launch also strengthens Experian’s consumer-facing role within the UK credit ecosystem.

The company says it powers the majority of lending decisions in the UK, including eight in 10 credit card applications.

Giving consumers easier access to their Experian Credit Score could therefore help them better understand one of the factors used by lenders when assessing applications.

However, a credit score is not itself a guarantee of approval. Individual lenders use their own criteria when making lending decisions.

A New Model for AI-Powered Financial Services

Experian’s ChatGPT upgrade illustrates how financial services companies are beginning to move beyond generic AI assistance toward authenticated, personalised financial experiences.

Rather than asking an AI system for general information about credit scores, users can now access information linked to their own Experian account through the company’s ChatGPT experience.

The development could point toward a broader model in which consumers use AI interfaces to interact with banks, credit bureaus and other financial-service providers while sensitive information remains within secure provider environments.

For Experian, the strategy also supports its goal of meeting consumers wherever they choose to engage with financial services.

What the Launch Means for FinTech

The integration is significant for the wider FinTech and AI sectors because it demonstrates how established financial-data companies can integrate personalised services into emerging AI platforms.

The challenge will be maintaining consumer trust while balancing convenience, privacy and security.

Experian’s approach attempts to address that challenge by keeping personalised credit information within its authenticated experience while using ChatGPT as the conversational interface.

As AI becomes a more common starting point for financial questions, similar integrations could eventually extend beyond credit scores into broader areas of personal financial management.

For now, Experian’s UK launch provides an early example of how AI and personalised financial data can work together, giving consumers access to their own credit information through a platform they already use.
