Klarna Revamps Membership Program With Up to €6,000 in Benefits, Higher Cashback and Fee-Free Payments

Klarna Updates Membership Program With Better Cashback, No Fees and Up to €6,000 in Annual Benefits

Klarna has introduced its change to the membership program yet offering better cashback, no service fees and more member benefits that can be worth as much as €6,000 every year across its subscription and rewards system.

This update was announced on 13 August 2026. The new program offers benefits across four membership levels and shows that Klarna wants to be a flexible choice compared to regular credit card reward programs.

The new options include cashback on daily purchases no fees for payments, travel perks, protection for purchases and access to up to 23 digital subscriptions. These include NordVPN, Headspace, The New York Times, foodora, Voi, Blinkist and Condé Nast publications.

The upgraded memberships will start in Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden and Finland. More countries will follow soon.

Klarna adds rewards beyond partner stores

A big change in the membership is that cashback is now available for all purchases made with Klarna not just at specific stores.

Members can now get cashback on every purchase with Klarna and the rates get better depending on the membership level.

The new cashback system has:

  •  Up to 1.5% cashback on all Klarna purchases.
  •  Up to four times the usual cashback rate at some stores.

This makes it easier to earn rewards compared to the system, which only focused on certain stores.

No fees for payments becomes a feature

Klarna has also removed service fees for some payments through Klarna Everywhere the basic membership tier.

Members can use Klarna for free anywhere Visa is accepted, if they are eligible.

The company is also making it easier to switch between membership levels without any long-term contracts.

Unlike high-end credit card programs Klarna memberships work on a monthly basis letting users change their level as their spending changes.

Higher level benefits offer financial value

  • The new membership program adds a lot of financial, lifestyle and travel benefits beyond just cashback and payments.
  • Higher level plans include:
  •  protection for purchases,
  •  coverage for theft and damage
  •  warranties,
  •  best price guarantees,
  •  access to airport lounges,
  •  travel insurance,
  •  hotel status upgrades,
  •  international data eSIMs,
  •  and phone plans for UK members.
  • The top level, Klarna Max also includes protection that lets members cancel for any reason on bookings.

Subscription deals become an advantage

One of the biggest improvements is the expanded selection of subscriptions.

The highest membership tier gives access to up to 23 subscriptions covering security, health, media, travel, productivity and lifestyle.

The subscription list now has companies like NordVPN, ClassPass, Headspace, The New York Times, Wired, Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Condé Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest and Bon Appétit.

This makes the membership closer to a lifestyle system instead of just a payment service.

Travel rewards grow a lot

Travel has become a part of the new membership.

Benefits now include:

  •  access to airport lounges,
  •  travel insurance,
  •  coverage for cars,
  •  hotel status,
  •  travel data packages,
  •  and the ability to transfer cashback points to airline and hotel programs.

Members can move rewards to programs like British Airways Club, Flying Blue, Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, Radisson Rewards, Wyndham Rewards and Global Hotel Alliance.

These features put Klarna in a position against premium travel credit cards in Europe.

A bigger plan beyond paying

The membership changes show that Klarna is growing from just a pay now pay later service into a full digital banking and financial services company.

The company is mixing payments, savings, rewards, subscriptions and travel perks into one customer system.

By removing fees adding cashback and making membership more flexible Klarna is trying to get more users to use its services more often.

The company also still offers no fees for Pay in 3 Pay in Full, financing, cashback, tracking loyalty, price alerts and digital banking features for non-members.

The point

Klarna’s new membership program is one of the biggest changes the company has made in a while.

With cashback no fees, more subscriptions, travel perks and benefits that can be worth up to €6,000 Klarna is moving past just paying later and offering a different option than premium credit cards and banking memberships.

As digital banks compete more on rewards, subscriptions and overall value Klarnas new membership plan could become a difference, in the European fintech and payments market.

The fairest of them all: Klarna supercharges memberships, removing fees, boosting cashback and increasing annual value to as much as €6,000
